Al Quddus | 99 Names of Allah | Divine Names of Allah explored by Sahibzada Asim Maharvi

He is completely pure, without any imperfections, flaws, frailties, negligence, or mistakes.

Al-Quddus represents the unparalleled purity that belongs solely to Allah, whereby every aspect of His being, including His essence, attributes, names, words, actions, and justice, is utterly faultless. He cannot be compared to any of His creatures, no matter how flawless they may be, since even the most perfect beings have some imperfections in their essence, attributes, judgments, words, or deeds. Furthermore, since they are bound by time, they cannot be eternal like Allah, who transcends time and space and existed even before the creation of the universe.

Those who comprehend and appreciate the divine purity will be inclined to glorify Allah for His flawlessness (taqdis), and they will be mindful not to ascribe any flawed qualities or temporary imperfections to Him (tasbih).

To cultivate the sense of al-Quddus within ourselves, we must avoid limiting our understanding and knowledge of the world to mere sensory perceptions, which can only take us so far as animals. Furthermore, our knowledge as humans should not be a product of our imagination. We must strive to purify our faith by removing any doubts, as even a single doubt can tarnish it. We should also aim to purify our prayers by praying to Allah with pure intentions, seeking no benefit other than Allah's pleasure. Otherwise, it can lead to shirk, the unforgivable sin of associating partners with Allah. We should strive to purify our hearts by getting rid of bad habits, which are like garbage and thorns that clutter the house of Allah within us.

'Abd al-Quddus is the one whose heart is pure and free from all but Allah. A heart that is filled with Allah is shielded from everything else. The manifestation of the name Ya Quddus, the Most Pure, can only appear in the pure heart described by Allah in the Holy Tradition: "I do not fit into the heavens and the earth, but I fit within the heart of my faithful servant."
