Al Maalik | 99 names of Allah | Divine Names of Allah explained by Sahibzada Asim Maharvi

Al-Malik is the Owner and absolute Ruler of the entire universe, visible and invisible, and all creation from before the beginning to after the end. He alone created His kingdom from nothing and knows everything about it, including its size, population, and armies. Al-Malik does not need His kingdom; it needs Him. He rules by Himself and does not require any help to do so. The universe is a workplace for His creation, and the Day of Judgment is a court of justice. Everyone will receive the result of their deeds on that day, and there is none other than Allah in whom to seek refuge.

Those who serve worldly kings as gods will desire to serve the Master of their masters. All actions are watched and recorded, and all will be accounted for on the Day of Judgment.

Abd al-Malik is the one for whom Allah is enough. Those who reach this state are given power and control over their own life and actions and appointed as Allah's deputies, rulers in their own realms. The kingdom of man is one's own being, and their subjects are their tongue, eyes, hands, and other members. If they can control them and make them obedient, they can control the lives of others as well. The manifestation of the name ya Malik upon a servant of Allah is the most powerful and challenging of the attributes manifested in human beings.

One who remembers this Name and believes that Allah is sufficient for them will appear to others as awesome and be respected by all. According to tradition, reciting the prayer "Allahumma antal-Malik ul-Haqq ulladhi la ilaha illa anta Na Allah ya Salamu, ya Shafi" 100 times over a sick person, along with "ya Shifa al qulub," may bring a cure if Allah wills it.
